My oldest daughter is an animal lover and huge Wild Kratts fan! So for her 4th birthday, we decided to throw her a Wild Kratts themed party. It was a blast and turned out great! I had a tough time finding ideas on Pinterest, so I wanted to share mine with you in case you are looking to throw a party for the little Wild Kratt in your life.

As you can tell from the picture of the grasshopper statue, February is not a convenient time to hold a birthday party for a nature lover. However, the Butterfly Pavilion provided the perfect venue. Indoors, warm and lots of close encounters with interesting invertebrates. If you live in a warm environment, your can look into going to a zoo or taking a nature walk at a local reserve or park. You might also find options for animal experiences that come to you.

PBS Kids has a great store online. You can buy lots of neat paraphernalia from all their shows (including the Wild Kratts). I bought this personalized banner and a personalized Creature Power Suit t-shirt for Caitlin's party. To visit the store, follow this link. There are several banner styles. I picked the "Wild Birthday" one. As you can tell from the picture on the left, it was certainly an appropriate choice. My husband was the life of the party.

Instead of party hats, I thought animal masks would make for a more "wild" party. If you do a google search for animal masks, you'll find some free ones. This shop on Etsy has a lot of cute options also. My suggestion would be to use elastic when making your masks.  I used some string I had on hand. We found that it was a little difficult to put them on energetic preschoolers. Elastic would have been easier.

I'm not much of a baker, so it's easier for me to make cupcakes. I'm sure the baking moms out there can make some really awesome ones! For the toppers, I found a sweet shop called MapleSyrupDesign on Etsy and bought a PDF of 60 different creature power discs toppers for under $3. I just printed them out and glued them onto preexisting toppers.

I forgot to take a picture of the cake before we cut into it, but for Caitlin's cake, I made a single layer cake, and hand decorated it like a butterfly creature power disc. Honestly, the mom who runs this blog did a much better job anyways! She also threw a Wild Kratts birthday party and had some great ideas. Here is a picture of the cake from her party and the inspiration for mine.

The Butterfly Pavilion was the perfect venue for my daughter's party. After eating pizza, opening presents and cutting the cake, we had the opportunity to explore the pavilion for as long as we wanted. The kids all held Rosie the tarantula and had up close encounters with butterflies, spiders, starfish and more. Best of all, Caitlin felt loved and had an awesome time.
